INTER⇄ACT

International Network for Terrestrial Research and Monitoring in the Arctic

INTERACT Non-Profit Association is an INTERACT initiative. INTERACT - International Network for Terrestrial Research and Monitoring in the Arctic - is a network of 94 terrestrial field bases scattered across all Arctic countries and in adjacent northern boreal and alpine areas.

INTERACT has become a popular platform for scientific collaboration and for facilitating field work in the Arctic. With around 15,000 researchers accessing over 90 research stations annually, providing advice to governments, reaching millions through outreach, offering educational resources in over 60 countries, and practising science diplomacy, INTERACT has been recognized as an 'EU Success story' multiple times.

INTERACT Non-Profit Association offers the INTERACT stations as a long-term science platform to implement scientific priorities and address societal challenges at local to global levels.

  • INTERACT Non-Profit assoication currently counts 26 Member Research Stations across the Arctic, Boreal and Alpine regions, scattered around 11 countries/regions and representing 14 countries/regions.

    Member Stations List

  • INTERACT Non-Profit Association is the result of 20+ years of scientific collaboration and work among research infastructures in the Arctic, Boreal and Alpine regions, started within the SCANNET network in 2001.

    Our History and Experience

  • INTERACT Non-Profit Association as the legacy of INTERACT network keeps working and collaborating with several organisations and working groups (Arctic Council working groups, e.g. AMAP and CAFF, IASC, ICOS, APECS, etc.) within the scientific community and beyond providing long-term monitoring data, predictions and insights on cryosphere, atmosphere, climate and biodiversity of the Arctic and Boreal regions.

News

We want to connect research stations to create a platform for science to better understand Arctic, boreal and alpine areas. We bring together different knowledge systems to inform decision makers and raise awareness for future generations.

Science & Fieldwork

INPA and its member stations facilitate implementation of research and monitoring. INPA stations are platforms for implementation of research projects and long-term monitoring contributing to international scientific networks and organisations.

Station Management

INPA brings together managers of arctic, northern boreal and alpine research stations to improve station management and improve the services offered to the scientific community.

Education & Training

INTERACT network develops outreach, education and training materials on Arctic ecosystems, biodiversity and changes affecting the region for a wide array of stakeholders, including the educational sector from primary schools to Universities, and the general public and decision makers on local, national, arctic and global levels.

Let’s INTERACT
