“Observing, Understanding and Responding to Arctic Change” on 4th Dec 2024
On December 4, INTERACT and the Mission of Monaco to the European Union hosted “Observing, Understanding and Responding to Arctic Change” in Brussels as a Side event of Arctic Futures Symposium, bringing together experts to address the pressing challenges posed by climate change in the Arctic and explore collaborative solutions for a sustainable future.
The event was the occasion to officially launch the INTERACT Association, after almost 15 years of connecting more than 95 research stations around the Arctic, Boreal and Alpine regions through the INTERACT EU-funded project, and an occasion to remark the efforts and attention of Monaco towards the Polar Regions.
The panel discussion including Arctic experts and stakeholders, notably Per-Olof Nutti, President of Saami Council, Claude Véron-Réville, EU Special Envoy for Arctic Matters, Jonathan Bamber, Professor at University of Bristol, and Morten Rasch, INTERACT Station Manager Forum co-leader from University of Copenhagen, explored the perspectives of different stakeholders on Arctic change, from Indigenous knowledge to diplomacy and science, and examined effective means of collaboration to respond to climate change.
A heartfelt thanks to the Mission of Monaco to the EU for hosting the event, and to all participants for joining us, and especially for the very active and interesting Q&A during the panel discussion.
