Observing, Understanding, and Responding to Arctic Change
INTERACT Non Profit Association invites you to its event "Observing, Understanding and Responding to Arctic Change" on December 4th, 2024, in Brussels at Townhall Europe (Sq. de Meeûs 5-6, 1000 Brussels, Belgium), hosted by the the Mission of Monaco to the EU. The event will begin at 18:00 CET and include some welcome remarks, a panel discussion and include a networking reception with food and drinks.
On this day, after a quarter of a century of networking up to 96 northern research stations, facilitating thousands of researchers, connecting with Indigenous communities, and feeding data into 155 international networks, the EU-funded International Network for Terrestrial Research and Monitoring in the Arctic (INTERACT) will officially pass the torch to INTERACT NPA, the INTERACT Non Profit Association.
The evening will open with remarks from the Ambassador of Monaco to Belgium and a welcome from Prof. Dr. Terry Callaghan CMG, the founder of INTERACT and a key contributor to the Nobel Peace Prize-winning IPCC group in 2007. Following the introductions, a panel will explore ways in which ground-based research, remote sensing, Indigenous Knowledge, and policy can foster impactful cooperation in response to the challenges of Arctic change. Experts from the EEAS, Saami Council, and other leading institutions will share insights on collaborative strategies for adapting to and addressing these evolving challenges.
The event will conclude with a reception, offering an opportunity to connect with speakers and fellow attendees to exchange ideas on the future of Arctic cooperation.
The event takes place as a side event to the Arctic Futures Symposium (held on 2nd-3rd December 2024). Spaces are limited, please register at your earliest convenience to reserve a seat. Confirmation will be sent by email.
