INPA at the 2024 EU Polar Science Week
INPA will join the 2024 EU Polar Science Week taking place in Copenhagen on the 3rd-6th of September, 2024. Interested in Arctic Monitoring or looking for opportunities to access Polar Research infrastructures for your research? Don’t miss our sessions!
SESSION 7 - Beyond Borders: Strengthen Global Polar Research through Advanced Research Infrastructures
Wednesday 4th September, 14:30 - 16:00 | The Queen's Hall, The Black Diamond
The session will present the results of EUPolarNet 2 project in coordinating large-scale initiatives in European Polar Science, cooperation between polar science and ESA, and highlight the new POLARIN Access Programme which will start in Autumn 2024.
INPA is involved in POLARIN Transnational Access Coordination, supporting Hannele Savela (INTERACT TA Coordinator) in the Access Programme development and management, and providing a new Access Management Platform which will be launched before the call opening.
SESSION 26 - Strategies for Arctic observing - The importance of ground observations
Friday 6th September, 9:00 - 10:30 | Blixen, The Black Diamond
The session Strategies for Arctic observing - The importance of ground observations focuses on various strategies and challenges related to Arctic observing, emphasizing the critical role of ground observations. The presentations explore the development of Shared Arctic Variables within permafrost, the importance of integrating different observation methods, the challenges associated with observing extreme events in the Arctic region and how we can improve observations on the ground.
INPA will present its commitment to enhancing ground observation efforts that have been developed over the past 15 years through EU-funded INTERACT initiatives, and its efforts in the EU- funded project Arctic PASSION, working closely with 10 terrestrial research stations to improve the terrestrial monitoring system and ensure a robust network for Arctic observation for the future.
